Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Industry-University Cooperation announced on the 1st that the Jeonbuk Regional Child Center Support Group (Director Choi Hyun-young), which it operates under commission from the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, has signed a memorandum of agreement with Law Office 'Joheun' (Representative Attorney Im Ji-yeon) to provide legal protection for staff and children of regional child centers.
Accordingly, the two organizations will cooperate closely to ensure prompt legal response when the rights of regional child center staff and the children they serve are infringed or when legal issues arise.
The Support Group will provide matters requiring legal review in the field of child welfare to facilitate systematic legal services. Law Office 'Joheun' will offer legal consulting and solutions to help improve the quality of welfare services in the relevant areas.
Choi Hyun-young, director of the Jeonbuk Regional Child Center Support Group, said, 'Staff, children, and guardians at the centers have often faced difficulties, such as infringements of their rights, due to a lack of legal knowledge. We expect this agreement to resolve those difficulties. We will do our best to ensure that prompt legal services are provided through close solidarity and cooperation.'
Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk Regional Child Center Support Group supports education, consulting, evaluation, and monitoring for 287 regional child centers across the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province. It also receives support for specialized programs — including the 'Be Myself' support project and the 'Dream Growth' support project — from the Community Chest of Korea to provide high-quality programs for children at regional child centers in the province.
