Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Professor Eun-Joo Bae (School of Pharmacy) received a Commendation from the Minister of Science and ICT in recognition of her outstanding research achievements and dedicated service to professional societies. The award ceremony was held at the Spring Meeting of the Korean Pharmaceutical Society, which took place from April 17 to 19.

Professor Bae, after working in the pharmaceutical industry, has investigated the pathophysiology of metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and fatty liver disease at the university and proposed new therapeutic targets. These results were recently published consecutively in leading journals including Nature Communications and Nature Metabolism.

She currently serves as Chair of the Academic Committee of the Korean Pharmaceutical Society, contributing to the society's development and reputation. Through the National New Drug Development Project and the Biomedical Technology Development Project, supported by the National New Drug Development Project Group and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, she is developing therapeutic technologies for metabolic disorders using the PAK4 protein.

In addition, as Dean of the School of Pharmacy at JBNU, she is working to establish the educational and research foundations of the newly established School of Pharmacy.
