Professor Eom Hyuk-yong (College of Arts, Department of Fine Arts) at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Yang Oh-bong) has been inaugurated as the 13th President of the Korean Society for Basic Formative Arts. His term is two years, through 2026.
The Korean Society for Basic Formative Arts was founded on July 15, 1999 to establish an academic standing centered on 'basic formative' across all fields of art and design and to promote the social realization of 'creative form-making.' As of 2023, it has 9,408 active members.
For the academic development of 'basic formative' in the fields of daily life, culture, and the arts, last year it carried out extensive activities, including the Tainan International Invitational Exhibition, the Melbourne International Invitational Exhibition, the Asia Alliance of Basic Formative Studies Invitational Exhibition (Japan), the Leicester International Invitational Exhibition, the GIAF-invited Sejong Special Exhibition, and the San Francisco International Invitational Exhibition.
The society also organizes spring and fall international invitational exhibitions and academic conferences, actively engaging in the domestic and international art and design fields.
New President Eom Hyuk-yong said, "I will do my utmost to pursue various international activities and social contributions to globalize the fields of art and design."
