Recently, a professor visited Yang O-bong, President of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU). The professor, who had worked at JBNU for many years before retiring, said he had heard about the widely publicized '1,000-Won Breakfast' and wanted to support junior students.

He then shyly handed over a donation of 1,000,000 won. He added that there would be no greater joy than knowing the students can start their day with a hearty breakfast through the '1,000-Won Breakfast'.

The JBNU '1,000-Won Breakfast' program, which officially began on March 5, provides warm breakfasts to 200 students daily through combined support: 2,000 won from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, 1,000 won from local governments, and 1,000 won from the Jeonbuk National University Alumni Association and the Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation.

Starting with 100 students per day last year, support from the university headquarters and numerous alumni expanded it to 150 students per day. It expanded again this year to 200 students per day, enabling a total of 24,000 students to start their days well nourished. This is the result of many people coming together with the desire to provide warm mornings to junior students.

The anonymous donor, who insisted on remaining unnamed, said, "I decided to donate because, amid the recent high prices, I wanted our university students in their prime to have a substantial breakfast," adding, "I hope more donations for our students follow so that this program can be further expanded."

Kim Jong-seok, Director of Student Affairs, said, "We sincerely thank him for conveying such a warm heart for our students," adding, "We will strive to provide students with higher-quality, balanced meals."
