"I hope Law School students will be able to study in better conditions."

Jeong Young-seon, who began her term as Dean of the JBNU Law School on February 1, donated 10 million won to support the university’s efforts to enhance its competitiveness.

The Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation held a donation ceremony for the development fund on March 12 at 2:30 p.m. in the President’s Office at University Headquarters, with President Yang O-bong and other key officials in attendance. The foundation presented a plaque of appreciation and other items to express its gratitude for the donation.

A graduate (class of ’83) of the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at JBNU, Dean Jeong decided to donate a designated fund to the Law School upon beginning her term as the new dean. She aims to take the lead in promoting the Law School’s sustainable development and improving students’ educational conditions.

Upon starting her term as dean, Jeong emphasized student education above all. She stated her intention to lead efforts to transform the Law School into a premier educational institution by specializing in Northeast Asian Law and operating an advanced curriculum to train legal professionals prepared for diversification and internationalization.

Jeong stated that this fund also reflects her determination to personally take the lead in fulfilling her inaugural pledge.

Dean Jeong said, "The development of the Law School is deeply linked to the development of JBNU. Through this donation, I hope alumni of the Law School will continue to provide ongoing support and encouragement for younger generations. Building on such support, we will establish systematic learning programs and make every effort to help our students grow into legal professionals who prioritize the public interest."

Meanwhile, in accordance with Dean Jeong’s wishes, the donated funds will be used prudently for events and other purposes that can contribute to improving the educational conditions of Law School students and promoting the development of the Law School.
