Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Semiconductor Specialization College Project Group (Director Kim Jin‑soo) conducted the winter semiconductor camp "Semiconductor Thin-Film Process Practical Training" program for participating students from the 23rd to the 29th at the JBNU Semiconductor Process Research Center (SPRC; Director Heo Geun) to enhance the educational competitiveness of students in the Semiconductor Convergence Major.
The program was designed to enhance participating students' practical skills through theoretical instruction and hands‑on training in semiconductor processes, and to contribute to alleviating the shortage of skilled personnel in the semiconductor industry by cultivating advanced professionals in the field.
The training was delivered by researchers from the Semiconductor Process Research Center (SPRC), including Dr. Lee Geon‑hee and Dr. Go Gang‑bok, and was attended by 32 students from the Semiconductor Convergence Major. The program included theoretical and practical instruction on semiconductor deposition processes, education on the equipment and process methods used for deposition in semiconductor processing, hands‑on training on three types of deposition equipment (DC sputter, E‑beam evaporator, PECVD), and theoretical and practical instruction on post‑deposition analysis equipment such as SEM. The course ran for a total of 20 hours.
In particular, the Project Group received positive evaluations that the training was substantive, having established a customized curriculum based on a prior needs survey to increase student satisfaction.
Kim Jin‑soo, Director of the Semiconductor Specialization College Project Group, stated, "The customized curriculum we operated according to student requests resulted in very high satisfaction among participants. In light of this, we plan to offer this training regularly, and we will continue to devote ourselves to education aimed at training high‑level talent who will lead the semiconductor field."
