Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), led by President Yang O-bong, has decided to provide various educational services to soldiers of the Army 35th Infantry Division (Division Commander Oh Hyuk-jae). To this end, JBNU and the 35th Infantry Division signed a memorandum of understanding on February 26 at 5:30 PM, with President Yang O-bong, Division Commander Oh Hyuk-jae, and other key officials from both organizations in attendance.
The Army 35th Infantry Division, located in Imsil County in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, is the regional defense division responsible for the province. The two institutions serve as central pillars for education and defense in the region.

The two institutions also agreed to share facilities and equipment and promote exchanges in the arts, culture, and sports to strengthen cooperation.
President Yang O-bong said, "As part of the Glocal University 30 project, JBNU is preparing to foster the K-defense industry in the Saemangeum area to promote innovation in regional and industry–university collaboration," and added, "Through close cooperation with the 35th Division, the university and the military will work to revitalize the regional and national economies and strengthen the country's future growth engines."
