So-yeon Kim (Integrated Bachelor's and Master's Program) and Seo-hyun Park (undergraduate), members of Professor Hak-yeol Bae's laboratory at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (Division of Electronic Engineering, Next-Generation AI Semiconductor Devices and Circuits Laboratory), each received an Outstanding On-site Poster Award at the 31st Korean Semiconductor Conference, recently held at the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center.
The Korean Semiconductor Conference is the country's largest academic event covering semiconductor-related disciplines such as electronics, materials, chemistry, physics, and mechanical engineering. It encompasses almost all research related to semiconductors through 22 divisions, including semiconductor devices, processes, design, artificial intelligence, and simulation. This year, 1,172 papers were presented, and attendance exceeded 3,700, marking a record high.
At the conference, So-yeon Kim (Integrated Bachelor's and Master's Program) was recognized for her paper "Characterization of Bulk Trap Density Using Fully I-V-based Optoelectronic Differential Ideality Factor in Multi-Layer MoS2 FET" (광응답 전류특성을 이용한 반데르발스 2차원 소재기반 트랜지스터의 결함 분석), and Seo-hyun Park (undergraduate) was recognized for her paper "First Demonstration of HZO/β-Ga2O3 Ferroelectric FinFET for High-Performance Power Devices" (3차원 채널구조를 갖는 전력반도체용 갈륨-옥사이드 기반 고성능 강유전체 메모리 반도체 개발).
So-yeon Kim and Seo-hyun Park said, "With the guidance of our advisor and the dedication of the laboratory members, we were able to achieve strong research results. Conducting research on semiconductor device processing and analysis was not easy, but it provided an opportunity for academic growth. We will continue to strengthen our research going forward," they expressed.
Meanwhile, Professor Hak-yeol Bae's research team in the Division of Electronic Engineering is conducting research on next-generation logic and memory semiconductor device processing, characterization, and simulation. Including the two award-winning papers, the team presented a total of seven papers at this year's Korean Semiconductor Conference (four oral presentations and three poster presentations).
Professor Hak-yeol Bae stated, "This achievement is the result of efforts to strengthen capabilities and train professionals in the semiconductor field, supported by the Division of Electronic Engineering through initiatives such as the 4th-phase BK21 Project (JIANT-IT Human Resources Training Project), the Semiconductor Materials, Parts, and Equipment Innovation Convergence University Project, the Semiconductor Major Track Project, the Next-Generation System Semiconductor Design Professional Training Project, and the Semiconductor Specialized University Support Project."
