Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), which is striving to attract 5,000 international students through its Glocal University 30 Project, is actively strengthening its student internationalization capabilities, including by deciding to send students to leading universities in the United Kingdom.
JBNU has agreed to exchange students as well as human and material resources with Brunel University, The University of Edinburgh, and Canterbury Christ Church University.
JBNU signed a new MOU with Brunel University in April last year. It began by sending 58 students for language training during the recent winter break, and recently the parties agreed on an additional exchange plan to send 36 students in the fields of business and economics in the first semester of this year.
They have also agreed to begin exchanges, including student dispatch, with Canterbury Christ Church University and are coordinating the details. They plan to sign a new MOU with the University of Edinburgh in Scotland this year.
The University of Edinburgh in Scotland is a prestigious university founded by royal charter in 1582 (ranked 20th in the QS rankings). Going forward, substantive exchanges will be initiated through a Summer School program and by dispatching language instructors.
Cho Hwa-rim, Director of the Office of International Affairs, said, "Pioneering exchanges with these UK universities will improve students' English communication skills and broaden their perspectives as global citizens," and added, "Through diverse collaborative exchanges with these institutions, JBNU will build the foundation to rise into the global Top 100."
