Jeonbuk National University Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, together with the Korean Association of Southeast Asian Studies and Sogang University's Institute for East Asian Studies, will hold the Southeast Asia Regional Trends Briefing (hereinafter, the "briefing") as a two-day event on February 1 (Thursday) and February 2 (Friday) to review 2023 in Southeast Asia and to forecast 2024.
This sixth edition of the briefing invites the contributors to "Regional Trends Review," the annual special section of the journal Southeast Asian Studies of the Korean Association of Southeast Asian Studies. The event will be conducted as a live webinar via Zoom.
Regional experts will review last year’s political, economic, and foreign-relations trends in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Myanmar, and ASEAN, and will provide outlooks for this year based on those reviews.
This briefing began in 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, as recorded country-review videos posted on YouTube. It has since been established as an annual academic event held as a live webinar.
