Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has decided to strengthen cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to ensure the successful implementation of the Glocal University 30 Project.

Évariste Nicolétis, Coordinator of the FAO High‑Level Expert Panel on Food Security, visited JBNU from January 22 to 23 to discuss research collaboration with the agro‑biological industry in connection with the Glocal University 30 Project.

Remaining in Korea through January 26, Coordinator Évariste Nicolétis met with JBNU President Yang Oh‑bong at 11:30 a.m. on January 22 to discuss ways to enhance cooperation with the FAO.

In particular, JBNU plans to continue cooperation by establishing a network with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to develop sustainable food systems and realize a shared vision.

During his visit, he also toured agricultural institutions in Jeonju, including the National Institute of Crop Science and the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, to review international trends in agricultural technology and research. On January 24, he will visit the National Seed Management Office to learn about Korea's outstanding seed resources and to broaden the scope of joint cooperation with the FAO.

President Yang Oh‑bong said, “We expect Coordinator Nicolétis's visit to open the way for cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization and to have a very positive impact on our Glocal University 30 Project.” He added, “Agriculture and food are highly competitive sectors not only for our university but also for the development of Jeollabuk‑do. JBNU will serve as a bridge to maintain continuous cooperation with the FAO.”
