Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Yang O-bong)'s Jeonbuk Regional Innovation Platform - Future Mobility Project Group (RIS) (Project Group Director Lee Deok-jin) has signed a memorandum of understanding with global IT leaders DataMatica Co., Ltd. and Infobank Co., Ltd.

Through this agreement, recently held at the JBNU College of Engineering, the institutions will pursue the development of an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) three-dimensional spatial management system.

They also plan to closely cooperate to develop a three-dimensional spatial management system essential for safe AAM flight, using the company-affiliated research institute of DataMatica Co., Ltd. established at JBNU as a hub.

The Jeonbuk Regional Innovation Platform - Future Mobility Project Group (RIS)'s capabilities in developing three-dimensional spatial management systems, DataMatica Co., Ltd.'s expertise in building digital twins, and Infobank Co., Ltd.'s commercialization and control technologies are expected to generate significant synergies.

In particular, the partners plan not only to develop the system but also to establish infrastructure within Jeollabuk-do and conduct real-world tests, contributing to the advancement of related regional industries and job creation.

AAM, typified by air taxis, is a next-generation urban air transport solution to alleviate urban congestion. It operates autonomously without a pilot and is recognized as a leading force of the Fourth Industrial Revolution that will bring major changes to the future aviation and transportation industries.

Lee Deok-jin, Director of the RIS Future Mobility Project Group (and Professor, Division of Mechanical Design Engineering), said, "Through collaboration with startups leading digital twin technology and industry–university–research partnerships, we will make JBNU a world-leading university in the field of future mobility."

Gok Se-hong, CEO of DataMatica Co., Ltd., said, "This agreement can create a very significant milestone for the autonomous mobility industry," adding, "We will train talent who will contribute not only to autonomous vehicles but also to the air mobility industry, support the development of Jeollabuk-do, and grow into a leading autonomous mobility company."

Jeong Wan-seok, Head of Infobank Co., Ltd., added, "We will contribute to the domestic air mobility industry by cooperating with JBNU and promising companies."
