Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Yang O-bong), which has pledged to take flight as a flagship university leading regional development through selection for the Glocal University 30 project, has opened a Seoul Office to serve as a forward base for university innovation.

JBNU held an opening ceremony on January 15 at 5:00 PM at the JBNU Seoul Office located on the 5th floor of the Dabo Building in Mapo‑gu, Seoul. President Yang O-bong, senior university officials and heads of professional organizations, constituency and alumni members of the National Assembly, representatives of major domestic companies, and alumni association officials attended the ceremony, where they pledged new change and innovation centered on the office.

Located at a major transportation hub in Seoul, the JBNU Seoul Office was established to respond proactively to rapidly changing circumstances, to enhance JBNU’s brand value as one of the country’s top 10 glocal universities, and to strengthen networks between the region and central authorities to serve as a catalyst for bold innovation-driven growth.

Accordingly, the JBNU Seoul Office will serve as a forward base for attracting government-funded projects, recruiting outstanding new students from the Seoul metropolitan area, supporting employment through strengthened ties with related agencies and metropolitan-area affiliated companies, and expanding fundraising for development funds through close cooperation with Seoul-based alumni associations and organizations.

In particular, JBNU plans to use the Seoul Office to strengthen liaison functions with central government ministries and agencies and to seek prompt support for university administrative tasks related to the metropolitan area, while developing diverse and practical operational measures.

To this end, JBNU will station dedicated staff at the Seoul Office to focus on activating industry–university collaboration and to support various university administrative functions.

At the opening ceremony, President Yang O-bong said, “The Seoul Office will not only lead the activation of industry–university collaboration but will also support strengthening networks to improve the efficiency of university administration in the metropolitan area. It will serve as a forward base for university promotion, recruitment of outstanding new students, management of graduate employment, and expanded fundraising for development funds,” and added, “Through effective operation of the Seoul Office as a hub for bold innovation, we will marshal the university’s capabilities so that JBNU can enter the top 10 domestically and the top 100 worldwide within ten years.”
