Professor Inhwa Lee (College of Education, Department of Korean Education) recently received the Haeam Academic Award at the 29th Haeam Academic Award ceremony held at Seoul National University.
The Haeam Academic Award is given, in accordance with the will of the late Haeam Kim Hyung-gyu (海巖 金亨奎), Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University, to outstanding young scholars under the age of 40 who have produced exceptional academic achievements in the field of Korean language education research.
The Haeam Academic Award Selection Committee stated that Professor Lee was chosen because he has been outstanding in research achievements over the past three years and, through studies on the evaluation of the readability of modern fiction texts, international comparisons of competency-based literature curricula, and the canon of modern fiction education, has significantly expanded and deepened the horizons of literature education research and thus made important contributions to the academic community.
In his commemorative lecture following the ceremony, Professor Lee remarked, 'Although my research achievements may sometimes seem to have expanded like an octopus's sprawling arms, I will continue to carefully refine and cultivate these studies so that, like the octopus's clever arms, each can become a wise limb for me.'
