Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has been selected for the 'Regional Specialized Young Trade Support Project (hereinafter the GTEP Project)', administered by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and operated by the Korea Trade Association, for the 18th consecutive year. It is the only institution in the Jeonbuk region.

The JBNU GTEP Project Group (Director: Professor Minho Kim) was selected as one of 20 universities nationwide as a national project group that, since 2007, has supported industry–government–academia convergence trade practice and field internship training to cultivate current students as future trade experts.

Accordingly, the JBNU GTEP Project Group will have its operations guaranteed for three years from 2024 through 2026. Students will develop as trade professionals, and the project will carry out a range of activities to help local small and medium-sized enterprises expand overseas.

Going forward, the GTEP Project Group will, centered on students, perform comprehensive export support tasks, including identifying overseas buyers to open export channels for SMEs; providing buyer consultations through overseas exhibitions and market development missions; interpretation and translation services; and concluding trade contracts.

Through these efforts, it is expected to play a significant role in increasing SME exports within the Jeonbuk region and to contribute substantially to the region's industrial and economic development.

Director Minho Kim (Professor, Department of International Trade, College of Business and Economics) said, "The JBNU GTEP Project Group's selection for the project for 18 consecutive years was made possible by proactive administration from the university headquarters, Jeollabuk-do, and Jeonju City, as well as by the dedication of advising professors and students. As we have the longest tradition among universities nationwide, we will do our best to train students as professional export personnel."
