Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Quantum System Engineering undergraduate team (students Jeong Jun-hyeok, Lee Cheol-hyeon, Choi Won-jeong; master’s student Cheon Da-bin; Professor Yoo Seung-hwa) recently won the ‘Excellence Award’ at the Results Sharing Meeting of the Joint Utilization Paper Research Program for Nuclear Facilities and Equipment held in Daejeon.

At the results sharing meeting, the JBNU team presented their research under the title “Analysis of Structural Changes in Carbon Nanotubes Mixed in Various Organic Solvents Under 10 MeV Electron-Beam Irradiation,” receiving favorable reviews.

In particular, because the team members directly carried out literature study sessions, experimental investigations, sample preparation, and data collection/organization/analysis with close cooperation under the support of this program, the achievement carries additional significance.

Undergraduate student Choi Won-jeong commented, “Participating in a program that offered many opportunities to undergraduates allowed me to gain valuable experience in preparing for career paths such as graduate school. I am grateful to the Korea Atomic Energy Cooperation Foundation for providing this opportunity and to master’s student Cheon Da-bin and Professor Yoo Seung-hwa for their considerable help throughout the process.”

Meanwhile, Professor Yoo Seung-hwa’s research team at JBNU is actively pursuing a range of research topics, including the fabrication, analysis, and application of various materials such as carbon materials, polymers, composites, and semiconductors. The team controls the effects of quantum-beam (electron beams, proton beams, ion beams, photon beams, etc.) irradiation on materials to enable advanced new material manufacturing and property enhancement.
