Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Yang O-bong) Professor Ilseok Oh (Department of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence, Director of the Office of Information Innovation)'s book 'Computer Vision and Deep Learning' <Hanbit Academy> was selected as a Sejong Book for 2023. 

This marks Professor Ilseok Oh's fifth book to be selected, following 'Pattern Recognition' (2009), 'Computer Vision' (2015), 'Machine Learning' (2018), and 'Artificial Intelligence Made with Python' (2021). 

The selected book presents a balanced treatment of classical rule-based algorithms and modern deep-learning-based algorithms. 

It also provides abundant hands-on examples using TensorFlow, allowing readers to combine theory and practice. 

The book will also be used as the textbook for the 'Computer Vision' course to be offered by the Department of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence in the first semester of 2024. 

Professor Ilseok Oh stated, 'Computer vision is a field that emulates human visual cognition in computers, and it is expected to be widely applied in areas such as autonomous vehicles, medical image processing, and agricultural automation.'

Meanwhile, Professor Ilseok Oh graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering at Seoul National University and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from KAIST. He has served as editor-in-chief of the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers SA (Software and Applications) journal and the Journal of the Korea Contents Association.
