Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) will partner with blockchain specialist Banko Co., Ltd. (Chairman Kang Dae-gu) to establish a joint research institute for research and development of blockchain technology and future-oriented digital financial technologies.

To this end, JBNU and Banko Co., Ltd. held an official signing ceremony at the JBNU University Headquarters on December 21 at 2:00 PM, with key officials from both institutions in attendance.

Under the agreement, the two institutions plan to establish a joint research institute for R&D on blockchain and convergence technologies by leveraging their excellent existing infrastructure.

They also agreed to pursue close Industry–University Collaboration in relevant fields to support the designation of North Jeolla Province as a digital economy special zone, and to cooperate in nurturing outstanding talent by establishing and operating courses to develop glocal professionals in the related fields.

President Yang O-bong said, "As digital transformation using blockchain technology accelerates, blockchain is a core element of digital finance," and added, "Looking to the future, JBNU and Banko Co., Ltd. will actively engage in related R&D and in cultivating outstanding talent through close Industry–University Collaboration."
