Through the Glocal University 30 Project, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Yang O-bong) announced a plan to recruit 5,000 international students by establishing JBNU International Centers at key overseas universities, and is accelerating implementation of this plan through close cooperation with universities in Shaanxi Province, China.
From December 14 to 17, Park Seong-yong, Head of International Cooperation, and others visited universities in Shaanxi Province. During the visit, the JBNU delegation met with students participating in the Sino-foreign joint department collaborative education program with Shaanxi Vocational College of Finance and Economics, which began this year. They explained the main plans of the Glocal University 30 Project and held an in-depth Q&A session with 77 students who are seriously considering studying at JBNU.
On that day, Park Seong-yong introduced undergraduate transfer eligibility, language requirements, and Feeling Korea (a short-term Korean cultural experience) to the students. The Chinese students listened attentively, took notes, and further clarified their plans to study at JBNU.
At the same time, the JBNU delegation visited Xi'an International Studies University, Shaanxi Normal University, and Xi'an University of Finance and Economics, and discussed concrete plans with international cooperation officials to establish JBNU International Centers at those institutions by 2024.
In particular, through the JBNU International Centers, JBNU will provide professional Korean language education for Chinese students and introduce pathways for undergraduate admission, thereby concretely implementing ambitious plans to recruit international students.
Park Seong-yong, Head of International Cooperation, said, "JBNU was selected for the Glocal University 30 Project, the Republic of Korea government's most pivotal initiative for fostering outstanding universities, and is vigorously pursuing educational innovation and its advancement as a global hub university. We will spare no support so that many Chinese students can enroll at JBNU and realize their individual aspirations."
