The Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) overseas volunteer (exchange) corps (President Yang O-bong), which has brought acts of kindness to underdeveloped countries every summer and winter break, will once again travel abroad to carry out a variety of activities.

JBNU held a launch ceremony for the winter overseas volunteer (exchange) corps at 11:00 a.m. on December 20 in Gaein Hall, Jinsudang, marking the official start of its activities.

Approximately 110 students are participating in the winter overseas volunteer activities, divided into four teams across three countries—Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Each team will carry out volunteer work for about 15 days before returning.

As JBNU seeks to attract 5,000 international students through the Glocal University 30 Project, the overseas volunteer (exchange) corps plans to actively promote JBNU's various international-student support programs and excellent educational environment as a springboard for recruiting international students.

Kim Jong-seok, Director of Student Affairs, said, “JBNU's overseas volunteer activities plant the university's spirit of service around the world each year, widely promoting our institution's excellence abroad and creating opportunities to secure prospective international students early. Through this year's activities as well, we will spare no effort or support to ensure that many JBNU students promote the excellence of JBNU under the Glocal University initiative and return having strengthened JBNU's reputation on the global stage.”
