Master's students Song Da-han and Kim Se-jun (Department of Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering; supervised by Professor Cho Hae-seong) recently presented outstanding research results at the 7th Future Air and Space Conference held at the Air Force Academy and were awarded the Excellence Award.

At the conference, Song and Kim presented a paper titled "Study on the Deployment Mechanism of Net-Based Active Debris Removal (ADR) Technology for Space Security," which was recognized for its excellence.

The research seeks a method to remove space debris. It involves developing a deployment device for Active Debris Removal (ADR) based on a net-based space method, in which a cleanup satellite collects debris with a net, similar to catching fish.

Song and Kim received favorable reviews for validating the effectiveness of space debris removal through cross-comparison with net deployment simulations.

Song Da-han said, "Thanks to the excellent guidance of our professors and the substantial support of my lab colleagues, we were able to achieve good research results. I will use this experience to raise awareness of the importance of space security and to grow as a researcher who can contribute to future domestic ADR technology development."

Kim Se-jun said, "I hope this achievement will serve as an opportunity to raise broad awareness of space environment issues and ADR research. I will strive to contribute to space security and the advancement of the domestic aerospace industry through successful follow-up research."
