Undergraduate researcher Seonghwan Lee (4th-year, Department of Bioindustrial Machinery Engineering; Advisor: Professor Yang Myung-gyun) received Excellent Poster Awards at the 2023 Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Agricultural Machinery held in Yeosu and at the 2023 Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Precision Agriculture held in Iksan.

At both conferences, he presented research titled 'Rice Variety Classification Using Various Artificial Intelligence Models' and 'Image Capture System for Rice Seed Classification', respectively, and was honored with the awards.

The study compared seed-level classification performance by applying transfer learning with various deep learning models to a rice seed dataset. It received favorable evaluations for taking into account hard-to-classify data and for carefully designing uniform environments and collection conditions for data acquisition.

Seonghwan Lee stated, 'I was able to achieve good results thanks to the passionate guidance of my advisor and the help of my lab colleagues,' and added, 'I hope to apply these results to a variety of seeds to contribute to food security.'
