Cheon Da-bin, a master's student in the Department of Applied Plasma and Quantum Beam Engineering (advisor: Professor Yu Seung-hwa), recently received the Docho Outstanding Presentation Award at the 2023 Fall Conference of the Korean Society for Composite Materials held in Geoje Island.
Cheon Da-bin was selected as the awardee in recognition of her research entitled "Effective Dispersion of BNNT through Electron Beam Graft Polymerization."
In this study, she attempted electron-beam graft polymerization to disperse BNNT (boron nitride nanotubes), a next-generation nanomaterial, and subsequently evaluated the dispersion.
Cheon said, "I am pleased that my research was recognized with this award, and I thank Professor Yu Seung-hwa for his generous advice and guidance. I will continue to work to achieve better results by improving dispersion."
Meanwhile, Professor Yu Seung-hwa's research team at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is actively conducting various studies to control the effects of quantum beam irradiation (electron beam, proton beam, ion beam, photon beam, etc.) on materials. The team focuses on the fabrication and property enhancement of advanced new materials and conducts extensive research on the production, analysis, and application of a wide range of materials, including carbon, polymers, composite materials, and semiconductors.
