Professor Jeongho Yoon of the Department of Periodontology, School of Dentistry, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU; President Yang Oh-bong) recently received the 'Excel Therapeutics Technology Award' at the Education–Early-Career Researchers Integrated Symposium of the Korean Society for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, held at Seoul National University Children's Hospital.
This award was newly established this year to encourage the advancement of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine in Korea and Industry–University Collaboration research activities, and Professor Yoon is the inaugural recipient.
Professor Yoon has long published high-quality papers and filed patents through collaborative research on adult stem cells and periodontal tissue regeneration.
In particular, he has steadily conducted industry–university collaborative research through several national R&D projects related to the development and clinical evaluation of implant and bone-regeneration biomaterials. He established preclinical and clinical evidence for the clinical application of those technologies and materials, thereby contributing to the introduction and commercialization of new dental clinical techniques.
He continues to carry out research projects supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea and other funding sources, actively pursuing tissue-engineering approaches to tissue regeneration related to periodontal tissues and dental implants.
Professor Jeongho Yoon commented, "Through challenging research activities, I will strive to develop innovative dental clinical technologies and, using them, to discover new clinical treatments that can benefit both clinicians and patients. I will continue to work to ensure these treatments are introduced into clinical practice."
