Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Yang O-bong) graduate students from the Department of Electrical Engineering's Power Grid Research Laboratory, supervised by Professor Guk Gyeong-su, received Excellent Paper Awards at an academic conference in the field of power technology.

At the 2023 Fall Conference of the Power Technology Division of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers, held recently at the Paradise Hotel in Busan, Ph.D. student Song Yu-hun and master's student Jo Hye-won each received Excellent Paper Awards.

Ph.D. student Song Yu-hun was selected for the award in recognition of the excellence of his paper, "A Preliminary Study on the Development of BESS Operation Strategies for Participation in the AS Market of the Norwegian Power System."

Master's student Jo Hye-won received an Excellent Paper Award for her paper, "A Case Study on Calculating Frequency Control Reserve Requirement Considering Domestic Renewable Energy Expansion Plans."

This research is the result of JBNU's Department of Electrical Engineering Power Grid Research Laboratory's international joint energy research with the Electrical Safety Research Institute and the power system stabilization research project of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy being carried out with the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute.

Professor Guk Gyeong-su, who supervised the research, said, "The research achievements of the Power Grid Research Laboratory have provided technical solutions to current power industry issues and have been recognized as an excellent example of cultivating experts through Industry-University Cooperation-based research. We will do our best to train electrical energy experts who will lead the energy transition era."
