“I am pleased that, after being unable to enter the country due to COVID-19, I can finally meet so many people face-to-face and begin my student life in Korea.”

A gathering was arranged for international students newly admitted to Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) to come together and share information about university life. The JBNU international student orientation, which had been held online due to COVID-19, was held in person at 2:00 p.m. on the 31st for the first time in three years.

At the orientation, newly admitted undergraduate and graduate students, as well as students returning to campus who had been unable to enter the country and had participated in online classes due to COVID-19, gathered to share various information about university life.

This semester, the international students joining JBNU include 59 undergraduates and 177 graduate students. Forty-three students who had been unable to enter the country will resume their studies and participate in degree programs.

The orientation provided information on academic administration, campus life, and support programs for international students. Souvenirs produced by the International Cooperation Division were also distributed to the students to enhance their sense of belonging and pride.

In particular, JBNU received strong responses for its early adaptation program, conducted in cooperation with the Immigration Office of the Ministry of Justice, which provided instruction on Korea's basic legal order and practical legal guidance for daily life.

Ahn Mun-seok Director of the International Cooperation Division said, "It was unfortunate that international students could not engage in normal campus activities due to COVID-19, but I am pleased that, with the restoration of daily life, many international students are now able to enter the country and live normally. We will actively support all international students through a variety of assistance so that they can live safely in Korea and on campus, graduate smoothly, and, where possible, continue on to employment in Korea."
