The College of Humanities (Dean Shin Chung-gyun) has partnered with the Cultural Heritage Administration's National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, the National Wanju Cultural Heritage Research Institute (Director Yoo Jae-eun), to promote exchange and cooperation in the fields of culture and education. The two institutions signed an official memorandum of understanding on August 31 in the Samrye Culture and Arts Village in Wanju and agreed to continue their cooperative exchanges.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on research into archaeological and historical materials from the Jeonbuk region, investigations and research of cultural heritage, and practical training. To this end, they plan to expand areas of cooperation to include personnel and material exchanges, joint research planning and execution, and the exchange of academic materials and related information.
Through the agreement, the College of Humanities and the National Wanju Cultural Heritage Research Institute will jointly develop programs linking humanities education with fieldwork to increase local interest in regional cultural heritage and to enhance the field training capabilities of College of Humanities students.
Dean Shin Chung-gyun said, "As part of the University Innovation Support Project, the College of Humanities is pursuing diverse forms of cooperation with local humanities-related institutions in education and research. Through this outward expansion, we will work to enhance practical understanding for both majors and non-majors and, by expanding various experiential education opportunities, to cultivate students as field-oriented professionals."
