Our university conducted a two-day project orientation and basic program from the 9th to support early-stage startups (within three years) and scale-up startups (within seven years) in the region.
This year, the Startup-Centered University Project selected 40 pre-startup entrepreneurs, 25 early-stage startups (within three years), and 20 scale-up startups (over three years and within seven years). A total of KRW 6.2 billion in commercialization funds will be invested to support the stable growth of startups in the region.
The event offered sessions on accounting matters that startups need to know, entrepreneurship capacity-building training, online and offline consumer response surveys, and the Quantum Business Scale-up Solution Program.
The online and offline consumer response survey is a program aimed at validating business models and items for early-stage startups (within three years) and identifying areas for improvement through market research targeting consumers. The Quantum Business Scale-up Solution Program provides solutions in design, marketing, and certification to help scale-up startups (within seven years) overcome growth stagnation and increase sales.
In addition, the JBNU Startup Support Center offered tailored lectures for companies struggling to implement government-funded projects, and held networking sessions to foster positive synergy between project managers and selected companies and to support successful project execution.
The Startup Support Center will support founders across the full startup lifecycle this year—from pre-startup entrepreneurs to scale-up companies—by addressing their challenges. It will also provide growth strategies through programs to strengthen IR capabilities for attracting investment and to develop domestic and international sales channels using e-commerce.
Kwon Dae-gyu, Head of the Startup Support Center, said, "Through the Startup-Centered University Project, we will actively create opportunities for startups from the Honam region, including Jeju, to gather and share their know-how." He added, "We will do our best to help outstanding startups in the Honam region grow into unicorn companies."
