Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Kim Dong-won), which is establishing the Asia University Education Alliance (AUEA) to build a glocal talent development platform, is further concretizing this plan by expanding sister‑university ties with Asian universities.

In particular, through expanding cooperation with these Asian universities, it is expected to open new channels for expanding JBNU's international exchanges, which had been dormant due to COVID‑19.

Recently, Executive Vice‑President of Student and Academic Affairs Lee Jae‑baek and Director of the International Cooperation Headquarters An Mun‑seok visited major universities in Singapore and Malaysia in person. They pledged personnel and material exchanges and the implementation of joint educational programs, laying the groundwork for students to continue their studies stably at overseas universities.

First, they signed an official agreement with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), an institution focused on practical applied social sciences education. Through this agreement, the two universities agreed to implement a short‑term startup program called "Impact Challenge" to foster entrepreneurship, and they will continue discussions toward offering dual‑degree graduate programs in the long term. They also agreed to waive dormitory fees for students from each university participating in exchange programs.

They also signed official agreements with Malaysia's largest university, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), which has 34 campuses and more than 150,000 students, and with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Through these agreements, they will pursue various personnel and material exchanges, joint educational programs, and collaborative research.

At UiTM, the MOU signing ceremony was attended by UiTM President Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor and the deans of each college, who discussed future cooperation and toured the university.

Executive Vice‑President of Student and Academic Affairs Lee Jae‑baek delivered a congratulatory message and commemorative video for UTAR's 20th anniversary and strengthened ties by discussing concrete cooperation between the universities.

Earlier in June, Executive Vice‑President of Research Jo Gi‑hwan visited the Bandung Institute of Technology in Indonesia to discuss future cooperation through an MOU and provided an explanation of JBNU's online graduate programs.

Executive Vice‑President of Student and Academic Affairs Lee Jae‑baek said, "Our university has been making continuous efforts to build an educational alliance with major Asian universities in order to create a global educational network that shares student education worldwide. We will expand sister‑university ties with Asian universities, whose potential is boundless, to broaden opportunities for our students to grow into global talents."
