On the 3rd, the Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) International Convention Center was filled all day with the joyful laughter of local children on summer break. JBNU invited students from community children's centers and organized a variety of experiential programs as a warm initiative with the local community.
Prepared as part of a national university promotion program, the event, titled "Play! Learn!", was organized through talent donations by students from the JBNU Volunteer Service Group. About 40 students from the Soji Community Children's Center in Geumam‑dong, Jeonju participated, and JBNU students directly designed programs that local children could enjoy while learning.
Participants spent time on hands‑on activities away from rigid classroom subjects, such as building Da Vinci bridges, addition‑subtraction Sudoku, making LED traffic lights, and making eco‑friendly soap and detergent.
They also enjoyed art experiences that could be completed in a short time—such as croquis, pointillism, and coloring famous paintings—along with sports activities like soccer and yoga, and performances presented by students of the JBNU Volunteer Service Group, making for a full day of fun.
One student who took part in the activities said, "It was great to experience so many things and have a fun time with the university students during the vacation."
Meanwhile, JBNU plans to continue the experiential programs inviting local children through November, beginning with this event. Those wishing to participate should contact the JBNU Student Affairs Office at (63-270-2124).
