Four companies housed at the Business Incubation Center were selected for the 2022 Honam Region Startup Package Program (Pre-startup, Leap, Early-stage) and received phased, tailored support to establish a foundation for growth.
This program, run by Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) as the startup-centered university for the Honam region, selects outstanding regional startup companies and provides comprehensive, stage-based support—funding, training, mentoring, and more—to promote successful entrepreneurship.
At the JBNU Business Incubation Center, tenant companies NRB Co., Ltd., Solline Best Co., Ltd., ONM Korea Co., Ltd., and prospective entrepreneur Eun-gyu Choi were each selected to receive stage-specific, tailored growth programs, including commercialization funding, entrepreneurship training, product validation, and strengthening investment attraction capabilities.
NRB Co., Ltd. and Solline Best Co., Ltd., selected for the Leap package, are based in Incubation Center 4 within the Gunsan Small and Strong Special Zone. They were founded in 2019 and 2018, respectively. NRB was designated in 2021 as an innovative product by the Public Procurement Service for its modular, mobile school building, "Bridge School." Recognized for its strong business potential, it has secured KRW 11.8 billion in investment this year and obtained KRW 50 billion in project financing approval from KB Securities, demonstrating its emergence as an innovative growth company in the region. Solline Best began as a solar power equipment specialist and was selected for the Early-stage Startup Package in 2019. In 2020 it obtained four patents for related technologies, and in 2021 it was selected as a specialized enterprise for the Gunsan Small and Strong Research & Development Special Zone technological project. The company has expanded into electric vehicle charging systems to accelerate the commercialization of renewable energy.
ONM Korea Co., Ltd., selected for the Early-stage Startup Package, licensed a patented technology that restores skin damaged by ultraviolet radiation and developed beauty care products, registering in 2021 as a research-based company within the Jeonbuk Research & Development Special Zone. The company commercialized Korea's first silk cream and signed a sales contract with NS Home Shopping this year. Through collaboration with various partners, it is also developing products such as anti-hair-loss shampoo, teeth-whitening devices, and health functional foods.
Prospective entrepreneur Eun-gyu Choi was selected for the Pre-startup Package in recognition of the technology behind his facial recognition-based 3D visualization integrated access management system (HVS). The technology is at the commercialization stage and is expected to serve as a real-time visualization control tower focused on disaster and accident prevention and control for comprehensive safety management in urban safety systems, public facilities, and other key industrial sites.
Kwon Dae-gyu, director of the JBNU Business Incubation Center, said, "In an increasingly globalized economic system where competition among companies is intensifying, it is important for early-stage companies to actively utilize support programs to survive." He added, "Support from the Honam Region Startup-Centered University program will provide an opportunity for our university's outstanding tenant companies to strengthen their positions."
Meanwhile, since 1999 the JBNU Business Incubation Center has expanded to include Jeonju Centers 1 and 2, Wanju Center 3, and Gunsan Center 4 to foster outstanding companies that will lead the region's new growth. Jeonju centers are located in the R&D Special Zone, the Wanju center is a food-specialized center, and Gunsan Center 4 is designated in the Gunsan Small and Strong Development Special Zone. They provide specialized incubation services to approximately 60 tenant companies. Through a systematic approach, the center continuously nurtures high-quality startups, and each year many companies are selected for increasingly competitive startup commercialization funding and government-supported R&D projects.
