Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is operating an employment-linked workforce training program, 'J-Companion Vinatech Co., Ltd.,' with Vinatech Co., Ltd., a Jeonbuk-based company that holds the world's largest market share for supercapacitors.
'J-Companion' is an employment-linked workforce training program jointly planned and operated by JBNU LINC 3.0 Project Group (Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation 3.0) and the company. The program is run in collaboration with outstanding local firms to promote mutual growth between the university and industry.
The program is structured as a three-stage, six-month training course to enable participants to perform development, manufacturing, and application tasks related to supercapacitors, which are Vinatech's business area.
Through step-by-step training for students, the program provides field experience and practical skills. Students who achieve excellent results will also be offered opportunities to be hired by Vinatech through employment linkage.
Since April, JBNU has worked jointly with Vinatech to plan the program and develop its curriculum so that the J-Companion program can establish itself as a standard model of a university–industry mutual growth program.
In addition, with the LINC project's core value of fostering co-prosperity with local industries and companies, JBNU is accelerating the expansion and advancement of the company-linked workforce training program J-Companion, aiming to supply high-quality talent.
Song Cheol-gyu, Director of the LINC 3.0 Project Group, said, 'As a university carrying out the technology-innovation-led LINC project, JBNU is launching a program that, as the first step of a long six-year journey, can lead industrial development and technological innovation through the cultivation of outstanding talent. We will do our utmost to ensure that this cooperative model, which enables mutual growth between universities and companies, is stably established.'
