The Industry-University Cooperation Entrepreneurship Education Center (Director Hwang Woon-jung), LINC 3.0 Project Group (Director Song Cheol-gyu), and the Jeonju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Foundation (President Lee Young-ro) jointly held the "2022 Smart Device Idea Camp" (subtitle: Smart Think for Smart Living) over a two-night, three-day period through July 1, 2022.
The camp provided hands-on training on IoT/ICT fundamentals and the use of physical device sensors to align with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Students conceived real ideas and spent time developing them with their team members.
In particular, an awards ceremony was held for outstanding entries through a competition to help students further develop their ideas.
In the competition, the EE team, composed of students from the Division of Electronic Engineering, won the Grand Prize with their "Smart Kiosk" idea.
Additionally, the Collective Intelligence team (Division of Mechanical Design Engineering), which proposed a fire alarm system using smart devices, and the Jeonjawon team (Division of Electronic Engineering; Department of Mineral Resources and Energy Engineering), which proposed an autonomous vehicle idea, each received Excellence Awards.
Outstanding idea teams will receive up to KRW 5,000,000 in development funding through the program-linked startup club support project and up to KRW 10,000,000 in development funding through the Jeonju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Foundation’s prototype production support program.
Student Kim Da-hee said, "Through this Smart Device Idea Camp, I was able to build Arduino products and increase my interest through simple games, and it was enjoyable to hold the idea competition in a hackathon format," adding, "This camp was a meaningful time that helped lower the barrier to entry for entrepreneurship."
Hwang Woon-jung, Director of the Entrepreneurship Education Center, said, "Since this camp consisted of students interested in IoT/ICT smart device education and idea commercialization, students participated actively and many outstanding ideas were discovered," adding, "We will provide wholehearted support to ensure that the ideas identified at this event lead to successful startups."
