Last year, to commemorate the College of Veterinary Medicine's 70th anniversary, 16 professors of the College of Veterinary Medicine (Dean An Dong-chun) donated KRW 125 million to the development fund.

The fund included contributions from Dean An Dong-chun of the College of Veterinary Medicine and professors Kang Hyeong-seop, Kim Beom-seok, Kim In-sik, Kim Jong-hoon, Park Byung-yong, Park Sang-yeol, Seol Jae-won, Eom Jae-gu, Yoon Hak-young, Lee Ki-chang, Jang Hyung-gwan, Jeon Yu-byeol, Jo Ho-seong, Tae Hyun-jin, and Heo Su-young, who all contributed collectively.

Since last year, donations from alumni active in various sectors have continued to mark the College's 70th anniversary. Dean An Dong-chun and 35 full-time faculty members also pooled contributions and donated to the development fund last year.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) invited Dean An Dong-chun and others from the College of Veterinary Medicine to the University Headquarters at 4:00 p.m. on June 28 for a development fund donation ceremony. At the event, President Kim Dong-won presented a plaque of appreciation to express gratitude.

The professors who made this latest donation each gave different amounts and designated uses, but their intentions converge on a single goal: the advancement of the College of Veterinary Medicine and the improvement of educational environments for students.

Dean An Dong-chun said, “Over the past 70 years, the JBNU College of Veterinary Medicine has entered the world’s top 100 veterinary schools. Professors have stepped forward to carry on that reputation for future generations and to provide a foundation that allows our students to grow into accomplished individuals in better environments. I hope the generosity of alumni and faculty will be returned as a great source of strength for our students.”

Meanwhile, the JBNU College of Veterinary Medicine, which opened on October 6, 1951, produced its first class of 39 veterinarians in 1955 and has graduated 2,263 bachelor's degree holders since then. It plays a central role in the country’s veterinary field.

Since relocating to the Iksan specialized campus in 2015, the College has undergone continuous change and growth, including the construction of the nation’s largest animal hospital and the establishment of Asia’s largest zoonotic infectious disease research institute. It has established itself as one of the country’s leading veterinary programs and entered the world’s top 100 veterinary schools in rankings conducted by the UK higher education evaluation agency QS (Quacquarelli Symonds).

The College has attracted KRW 25 billion in funding to establish an Animal Pharmaceutical Efficacy Evaluation Institute adjacent to the zoonotic infectious disease research institute, and the KRW 16 billion Laboratory Animal Center, which was confirmed in 2021, is scheduled to begin construction next year. These developments are expected to greatly improve educational services and the research environment for faculty.
