"I want to give back to our students the many forms of support I received on my way to becoming a professor."

Professor Hyung-eun Jang of the College of Nursing, who was appointed as a professor at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) on March 1 of this year, donated KRW 20 million to the development fund to commemorate joining the JBNU family and to give back for the support she had received.

Professor Jang, who said she had formed a favorable impression of JBNU through an alumnus who had worked at the university, said at the donation ceremony held at 2:00 p.m. on the 27th, "I decided to donate because I wanted to offer even a small measure of support to students who are pursuing their dreams."

Professor Jang stated, "There was a period during my student years when I faced financial hardship. At that time I had difficulty concentrating on my studies and even felt like giving up, but thanks to various forms of assistance I was able to become a professor at such a fine university. I will strive to be even a small help in developing a better university where students can devote themselves to their studies without worries and where faculty can focus on teaching and research."

Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation held a donation ceremony that day attended by President Kim Dong-won and Kim Hyun-kyung, Dean of the College of Nursing, and presented a plaque of appreciation and other tokens to express gratitude for her generosity to the university and its junior students.

The fund has been designated for the College of Nursing and will be widely used for the college's development and student scholarships.
