Industry-University Cooperation (Director Professor Jo Gi-hwan) is partnering with a company to develop and commercialize a plasma-based sterilizing air purifier.

To this end, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Industry-University Cooperation signed a technology transfer agreement with Clearwin Korea Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Yu-cheol) at 2:00 p.m. on the 16th.

The technology was developed in the laboratory of JBNU Professor Mun Se-yeon (Department of Quantum System Engineering). It is an innovative technology that uses plasma to maximize the treatment area without disrupting airflow, enabling effective sterilization.

Clearwin Korea Co., Ltd., which signed the agreement with JBNU, is a promising small and medium-sized enterprise that developed the world's first escalator handrail sterilizer using UVC 265 nm. Its devices have been installed in major domestic hospitals, shopping malls, subway systems, and corporations, and it exports to 63 countries worldwide, demonstrating outstanding technological capability in hygiene environments.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will combine their technological capabilities and establish an integrated cooperation framework. Through this, it is expected that innovative sterilizing air purifier products will be commercialized in the near future.

In particular, Clearwin Korea Co., Ltd. has appointed JBNU Professor Mun Se-yeon, the technology developer, as CTO (Chief Technology Officer) and granted him full authority over technology development, intensifying efforts to commercialize the technology through this transfer.

Kim Yu-cheol, CEO of Clearwin Korea Co., Ltd., said, "The company's UVC 265 nm technology is within the UV-C band that delivers the maximum sterilization effect against viruses and bacteria. By combining it with JBNU's plasma technology, we plan to introduce a powerful hygiene-improvement product," and added, "We expect to shorten the product development period through close Industry-University Cooperation and to develop products that lead the global market."

Jo Gi-hwan, Director of Industry-University Cooperation, said, "This technology transfer agreement is a good example of the university's excellent technology being integrated into a leading company in the sterilization equipment market," and added, "We will spare no effort or support to ensure that, through continuous cooperation, it becomes a virtuous-cycle model of Industry-University Cooperation that leads the sterilizing air purifier market."
