The College of Medicine (Dean Im Seok-tae) has undertaken improvements to the educational environment to keep pace with shifts in the educational paradigm brought about by COVID-19 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These efforts have received strong support from students.

On the 3rd, the College of Medicine announced that it has recently refurbished the reading room on the second floor of the Medical Annex and opened a space designed to accommodate educational shifts toward non-face-to-face, online, and remote learning in line with the transformed educational service environment.

The newly opened learning space was remodeled on the second floor of the Medical Annex with a total floor area of 432.29 square meters. Approximately KRW 157 million was invested from the College of Medicine Development Fund, innovation support projects, and university accounts.

The space includes a 110-seat study-café-style reading area, a 44-seat advanced-study reading room, and a lounge where students exhausted from their studies can rest.

The newly established second-floor space in the Medical Annex is significant in that the college proactively adapted to changes in the exam format of the National Medical Licensing Examination and to students' altered learning methods represented by the so-called MZ generation.

To accommodate the learning methods of the Millennial generation, the space abandons the traditional study cubicle layout and is designed as a study-café-style environment focused on group classes and collaborative learning, receiving a positive response from students.

Kang-hoon Lee, a fourth-year student in the Department of Medicine, said, "We have long regretted the lack of a space where students could study together and rest, so we are pleased such a space has been created. We expect this place to enable students to enhance their educational competitiveness through diverse collaborative learning and to generate new ideas."

Im Seok-tae, Dean of the College of Medicine, said, "By providing students with a library that can accommodate the newly changed educational paradigms of students, we expect it will greatly assist in cultivating creative talents who will lead the future. We hope many students can develop their creativity through collaboration and diverse experiences in this space."
