Professor Dongwook Kim (College of Engineering, Division of Biomedical Engineering) received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 15th Medical Devices Day ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on the 27th.

Professor Kim was recognized for introducing a certified qualification system in the field of biomedical engineering in Korea to help cultivate outstanding technical personnel suited to the needs of the medical device industry, and for contributing to the advancement of the medical device industry and the improvement of public health through research and development of sensorimotor-integrated rehabilitation medical devices.

Professor Dongwook Kim has served as the 28th President of the Korean Society of Medical and Biological Engineering, a member of the Research and Development Special Zone Committee of the Ministry of Science and ICT, a member of the Medical Devices Committee of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, a member of the Health and Medical Policy Deliberation Committee, a member of the Health Insurance Expert Review Committee, an expert member for risk management technology at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, an expert member for in vitro diagnostic medical devices, and an expert reviewer for medical device approval at the National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation. He has published some 270 papers in the field of biomedical engineering.

Within the university, he has also served as Director of the Keun-Saram Education Development Institute, Director of the University Autonomous Capacity Enhancement Project (ACE+), and Director of the Research Center of Healthcare & Welfare Instrument for the Aged.
