Horyong Co., Ltd. CEO Park Jang-hyun donated KRW 100 million to support the development of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU). This is his second donation, following a KRW 100 million contribution in 2014.

Mr. Park graduated from the JBNU Graduate School of Business Administration and completed the 3rd Advanced Management Program, maintaining a long-standing relationship as an alumnus of JBNU. Last year, he entered into an agreement with the university for Industry–University Collaboration and the cultivation of outstanding talent in the eco-friendly special-purpose vehicle and construction machinery manufacturing sectors. In particular, the company has maintained an ongoing collaborative relationship to create jobs, including offering student internships.

He expressed deep affection for JBNU, noting that many JBNU graduates at Horyong Co., Ltd. are leading the company's development based on their strong capabilities. He placed his hopes for the university into the fund, wishing that JBNU's junior students could study in a better educational environment and that JBNU, representing the region, would continue to advance.

Having donated a total of KRW 200 million to JBNU, Mr. Park is widely known locally as a philanthropist. Last year he donated KRW 100 million to Gimje City to support low-income households facing hardship, and in 2016 he donated KRW 300 million in scholarships to the Gimje Sarang Scholarship Foundation, consistently leading efforts to cultivate talented individuals in the region.

Mr. Park said, "I have a long-standing relationship with JBNU and there is a close cooperative relationship to nurture outstanding talent, so I wanted to do something for the university's development and for junior students. I hope this will be of some help to the university's development and to our juniors studying in a better environment."

Meanwhile, Horyong Co., Ltd., located in Gimje, Jeonbuk, was founded in 1990 and has operated for 32 years as a long-established company in the Jeonbuk region, producing eco-friendly special-purpose vehicles and construction machinery. Last year it was selected as a World-Class candidate company; it received the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the 2018 Small and Medium Technology Innovation Exhibition and the USD 10 million Export Tower at the 56th Trade Day in 2019. It is the first company in Korea to establish a mass-production plant for electric excavators.
