NRB Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Geon-woo), a tenant of the Business Incubator (Director Professor Kwon Dae-gyu), has been selected as a 2022 Jeollabuk-do Star Company.
Jeollabuk-do and the Jeonbuk Technopark Foundation selected a total of 15 Star Companies to foster as regional star companies. They aimed to discover small and medium-sized enterprises with high growth potential and outstanding contributions to the local community, including job creation and added value.
With this selection as a Star Company, NRB Co., Ltd. is expected to strengthen its competitiveness through up to five years of government support. In the first year, a dedicated project manager (PM) will be assigned to establish a mid- to long-term growth strategy, pre-plan R&D projects, and provide consulting and commercialization support such as developing a market-entry roadmap and global marketing strategies. In the second and third years, the company will be eligible to apply for regionally specialized industry development R&D projects and, if selected, may receive up to KRW 200 million in R&D project funding.
NRB Co., Ltd., which moved into the Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Business Incubator in Osikdo-dong, Gunsan in 2019, developed the country’s first mobile modular school, the Bridge School. The Bridge School is a mobile green smart temporary school that guarantees safety and the right to education. It addresses the shortcomings of conventional container classrooms and provides a mobile school with safe and comfortable learning environments, as well as building-level performance, quality, and legal standards.
In particular, in 2021 the company obtained the Public Procurement Service's 'Innovative Product Certification for Mobile Schools' and won the main prize at the Red Dot Design Award 2021, one of the world’s top three design awards. Based on its excellent product quality and innovation, the company has experienced rapid sales growth and is emerging as a leading company in the mobile modular school market.
Professor Kwon Dae-gyu, Director of the Business Incubator, said, "Having a tenant company from our university selected as a Jeollabuk-do Star Company is a major achievement that reflects the discovery and development of a promising enterprise with high regional growth potential and the ability to create high added value, thereby contributing to the local community. We will provide focused support so that the company can advance from a Star Company to a global small but strong company."
