Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has created an opportunity to raise students' sense of accomplishment and to disseminate outstanding achievements by exhibiting the outputs of the Student Self-Designed Competition, which supports students' ideas becoming reality. The exhibition, titled "Challenge and Growth," will be held from May 9 to 13 in the Central Hall on the first floor of the University Museum.
The exhibition presents JBNU's distinctive talent attributes—six core competencies (Challenge, Creativity, Culture, Character, Communication, Practical Skills)—organized into four categories. Panels display last year's summer and winter top teams' activities and reflections. Outputs and activity videos produced through the projects are also on display.
On display will be the "Stop Hunting!" team (four students including Park Ga-young), which effectively communicated the need to protect endangered animal species by producing and selling phone grips and postcards after winning last summer's competition, and the "This Ability!" team (three students including In Hana), who wrote the picture book titled "Different, So You See" to improve disability awareness. Visitors can view their activities and outputs.
Also on view are a student project proposing a contactless gesture-recognition device, a student team that created a map of Jeollabuk-do local specialties, and a team that launched a youth magazine for Jeonju, among others.
A mentoring booth staffed by prize-winning competition teams will be available throughout the exhibition, providing students with opportunities to share their distinctive ideas directly.
Kim Nam-su, Director of Student Affairs, said, "We regretted that there have been few opportunities to share our students' innovative challenges due to COVID-19, so this exhibition is particularly meaningful in that it can reach more students," and added, "It will be a good opportunity for participating students to strengthen their sense of achievement and to encourage other enrolled students to take on challenges."
