JBNU (President Kim Dong-won), Jeonju City (Mayor Kim Seung-su), and Naver Healthcare Research Institute (Director Na Gun-ho) have joined forces to cultivate interdisciplinary talent and activate industry–university collaboration through the promotion of the Campus Innovation Park Project.

The parties held an official signing ceremony on May 6 at 11:30 a.m., attended by President Kim Dong-won, Mayor Kim Seung-su, Director Na Gun-ho, and other key officials from the signatory organizations.

The Campus Innovation Park Project designates unused land on university campuses as urban high-tech industrial zones and develops a mixed-use environment of corporate spaces, housing, and cultural and welfare facilities, thereby establishing an innovation platform through various government support programs.

By actively leveraging a university's locational advantages and superior infrastructure, the project offers multiple benefits: creation of high-tech industry jobs, improved survival rates for post-BI companies, and the establishment of a high-density industry–university collaboration ecosystem through efficient use of the university's idle land.

Under the agreement, both parties will jointly utilize mutual infrastructure such as sites and amenities from urban regeneration projects (including I-TOWN), and cooperate in creating favorable residential and convenience conditions related to development, including road traffic, access routes, and living facilities.

They also pledged to jointly develop support programs for tenant companies and provide mutual capacity support, and to form joint committees to promote the Campus Innovation Park and ensure continuous project operation.

Mayor Kim Seung-su stated, “Through technical collaboration among the signatory organizations, whose expertise is concentrated, we will actively support the creation of spaces where the university, local government, and companies can communicate and the provision of various program supports so that this place can grow into a hub for nurturing future industries. The Campus Innovation Park will become an innovation hub where young people can find good jobs close to home and companies can secure excellent talent early, producing tangible results for regional development. We will do our utmost to achieve this.”

Director Na Gun-ho said, “By establishing a cooperation model to advance the Campus Innovation Park Project with JBNU and Jeonju City, we will go beyond administrative coordination and, through technical collaboration that concentrates the signatories' expertise, lead the realization of social value by responding swiftly to the rapidly expanding IT services market and diversified client demands. In particular, we will cooperate to enter the digital healthcare sector through healthcare business collaboration and technology exchange.”

Responding, President Kim Dong-won said, “This agreement with Jeonju City and Naver Healthcare Research Institute represents an opportunity for remarkable advancement in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution by efficiently using the university's idle land to build a high-density industry–university collaboration ecosystem and pursue multifaceted revitalization. We will actively leverage our university's research capacity and resources to work with Jeonju City and Naver Healthcare Research Institute to establish a sustainable mutual cooperation system for the Campus Innovation Park Project.”
