“We hope Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) students will grow into outstanding talents who will lead national development.”
The Gyeongcho Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Kim Taek-su) presented the Gyeongcho Scholarship to outstanding talents at JBNU and offered words of encouragement.
JBNU held the scholarship presentation ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on April 26 in the conference room on the 4th floor of the University Headquarters. The event was attended by Chairman Kim Taek-su and other foundation representatives, as well as university officials including Kim Kwan-woo, Chairman of the JBNU Development Support Foundation.
The scholarships were provided through a KRW 50 million scholarship fund that the Gyeongcho Scholarship Foundation donated last year for the cultivation of outstanding talent at JBNU. Following nine recipients last year, this year ten students, including Kim Da-in (Department of Nursing), each received KRW 2 million, totaling KRW 20 million.
At the ceremony, Chairman Kim Taek-su of the Gyeongcho Scholarship Foundation said, “We continue to establish scholarship funds in the hope that the region’s outstanding talents will, through scholarship support, grow into individuals who can contribute to society and national development. I also hope the students who receive these scholarships will grow into outstanding talents with both character and competence who can one day give scholarships back to future juniors.”
Kim Da-in, who received a scholarship at the ceremony, said, “Meeting the donors in person and expressing my gratitude made today’s presentation all the more meaningful. I will always remember the meaning of this scholarship, devote myself to my studies, and grow into a person who can someday repay what I have received.”
The Gyeongcho Scholarship Foundation was established in memory of the late Kim Jae-ho, the founding chairman of Gyeongcho Academy (Honam Jeil High School), adopting his pen name ‘Gyeongcho’. Since then, the foundation has consistently provided scholarships to local high school and university students, putting into practice its commitment to nurturing regional talent.
