Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) received the Top Award for Outstanding Evaluator and the University Special Award at the 2021 Awards for Outstanding Evaluators and Universities Producing Outstanding Evaluators, hosted by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (hereinafter, the Accreditation Board). The award ceremony was held on March 24 at The President Hotel in Seoul.

The Accreditation Board's accreditation evaluation committees, which included university professors as well as representatives from research institutes and industry in each discipline, carried out engineering accreditation evaluations for 123 programs (departments) at 26 universities nationwide during 2021. Some 200 evaluators participated in the 2021 accreditation evaluations, and proceedings were carried out following impartial review by each university’s evaluation team leaders and the accreditation project group.

In the assessment of outstanding evaluators, Professor Song Je-ho (Division of Convergence Technology Engineering) was selected for the Top Award for Outstanding Evaluator, and JBNU received the Special Award in recognition of having produced a large number of evaluators.

The Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea is an engineering accreditation agency organized to secure the international equivalence of Korean engineering education and conducts engineering accreditation evaluations for engineering colleges nationwide. It also recognizes the contributions of evaluators who participate in accreditation evaluations and annually selects and awards 'Outstanding Evaluators' to promote professionalism in evaluation activities.

Professor Song Je-ho said, “The active participation of professors from universities nationwide, including JBNU, in accreditation evaluation committee activities greatly contributes to improving the quality of engineering education,” and added, “I will continue to work harder for the advancement of engineering education.”
