“I hope junior students at the School of Medicine will be able to pursue their dreams to the fullest in a better environment.”
Dr. Cheon-su Park, director of Park Cheon-su Orthopedic Clinic in Jeonju and an alumnus of the School of Medicine (Class 8), donated KRW 100 million to be used for the development of his alma mater and the training of future scholars.
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) invited Dr. Cheon-su Park to the university at 6:00 p.m. on March 23, held a donation ceremony for the development fund, and expressed its gratitude by presenting a plaque of appreciation.
Last year, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the opening of the JBNU School of Medicine, Dr. Park donated KRW 10 million. He has regularly made donations to help neighbors in need, and he decided to donate again because he wanted to contribute to creating an environment in which students can study.
In particular, when O Gi-su, an alumnus from the same graduating class and president of the Medical School Alumni Association (Class 8), began his term, Dr. Park considered what could be done for the alumni association, the university, and the junior students. He thought returning his sentiments as a development fund would be meaningful.
Dr. Park said, “As a senior, I have wanted to contribute in some small way to junior students at the School of Medicine, and I am pleased to be able to act on that wish,” adding, “I hope it will be used for the opening of the Biomedical Convergence Building, which broke ground last year, for the Clinical Skills Center for talent development, and for the expansion of other educational facilities.”
Dr. Park graduated from the JBNU School of Medicine in 1984 and trained in laser spine surgery at Elisabeth Hospital in Germany. He has performed more than 2,000 surgeries across various fields such as arthroscopy, knee arthroplasty, and shoulder ligament surgery, and has performed over 1,500 hallux valgus procedures. He currently operates Park Cheon-su Orthopedic Clinic in Seosin-dong, Jeonju.
