Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is offering campus allotments, prepared to promote communication with the local community and to revitalize urban agriculture, to citizens and university members. Since 2015, the JBNU campus allotments have been recognized as a venue for communication linking the university and local residents.

This year, JBNU has prepared 119 allotment plots across an area of 1,456 m² and will allocate them to local residents and university members. Of these, 107 plots will be allocated to citizens and university members by lottery, and 12 plots will be specially allocated to socially disadvantaged individuals. Each plot is approximately 13 m² in size.

Applications for allotments are open from March 16 to March 23. Applicants should download the application form from the JBNU website (www.jbnu.ac.kr) under Campus Notices and submit it by email (agriculture123@jbnu.ac.kr). Selection will be by lottery, and the final results will be announced on March 28 at 11:00 a.m. on the JBNU website.

Once selections are complete, the final participants and plot locations will be posted on the JBNU website on April 8 at 2:00 p.m., and a spring crop cultivation orientation will be held at the campus allotments on April 22.

On the day of the orientation, JBNU will provide seedlings free of charge and will support participants with personal plot markers, a guide to tending plots, basic farming instruction, and on-site technical guidance.

President Kim Dong-won said, "The campus allotments were created to provide local residents with opportunities to experience urban agriculture by utilizing the university's idle land and to fulfill the role of a regional flagship national university that walks warmly with the community. We will work to share the university's resources with local residents."
