JBNU University Museum (Director Hong Chan-seok) has prepared a special exhibition that brings together donated artifacts associated with its 61-year history in one place. The exhibition is intended to allow visitors to once again reflect on the noble sentiments of all donors. The special exhibition opens from February 15 in the Donated Artifacts Gallery on the museum's second floor.
The museum houses some 2,500 artifacts donated by 106 individuals. The special exhibition will display 183 items. Although limited exhibition space and a shortage of display cases prevent more artifacts from being shown, the exhibition has been prepared so that all donors can be remembered. The donated artifacts differ in appearance, size and period, but the donors' noble intentions remain the same.
The special exhibition features calligraphy by Choi Gyu-sang, Lee Gyu-jin, Kwon Gap-seok and Lee Yong; paintings by Na Sang-mok, Song Su-nam, Han So-hee, Song Gye-il and Kim Yeon-ik; and works by Intangible Cultural Heritage holders Choi On-sun, Kim Hye-mi-ja and Kim Dong-sik. Visitors can also see books studied by Confucian scholars from Jeonbuk and the woodblocks used to print Yi Jae Hwang Yun-seok's 『Ijae Yugo 頤齋遺藁』.
JBNU University Museum Director Hong Chan-seok said, 'Going forward, the museum plans to hold regular special exhibitions of donated artifacts to make all donated items publicly accessible,' adding, 'We extend our sincere gratitude to all donors and hope that the donors' noble sentiments will be conveyed to many people through this special exhibition.'
