Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is taking the lead in advancing Industry-University Cooperation by opening the graduate school industry–university–research-linked capstone design lab 'Create IT Lounge,' which will serve as a key actor in generating knowledge and technology in the Jeonbuk region.
The Create IT Lounge, which opened that day, is a collaborative space for the university and companies. It provides shared meeting areas, a remote video-conferencing room, and a new-product evaluation space so that companies' challenges can be addressed together with graduate students. Equipment such as 3D printers, cleaning devices, and curing units has been installed.
Through this initiative, JBNU plans to implement a range of activities that will generate high added value, including training talent demanded by industry to proactively respond to internal and external changes, and promoting industry–university collaborative research and technology development together with companies.
At this facility, the LINC+ Project Group will pursue Industry-University Cooperation jointly with the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Division of Electronic Engineering, the Division of Computer Science and Engineering, and the Department of Information Technology. Active participation by graduate students is expected to produce significant industry–university cooperation outcomes.
At the opening ceremony, attention was drawn to demonstrations of robot-based programs and an exhibition of graduate students' poster works, which unveiled capstone design outcomes based on graduate-level technologies.
Go Young-ho, Director of the LINC+ Project Group, said, 'I expect this space to become a venue for exchange that can further strengthen JBNU's industry–university–research technological competitiveness in the LINC+ program and in the forthcoming LINC 3.0 Project. I hope the graduate capstone design lab will be utilized by departments, graduate students, and industry as a place for independent research activities and as a collaborative research space linking industry, university, and research, becoming a forward base for producing industry–university–research cooperation outcomes.'
