The Center for Innovation in Engineering Education (Director: Professor Il-jae Lee) conducted specialized training on drones, a core technology of next-generation mobility, and received strong responses from students.

The Center announced that, with about 20 students from six universities—Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), Kongju National University, Kwangwoon University, Dongshin University, Soonchunhyang University, and Chungnam National University—it conducted the "Pixhawk Drone Assembly and Autonomous Flight Course" from the 24th to the 27th.

The program aimed to train drone specialists. Five teams were formed to receive instruction on basic drone theory and training to prepare for qualification examinations for four types of unmanned powered aircraft.

Students also assembled professional Pixhawk drones themselves, configured them through coding, and carried out flight tests and a mini skills competition (autonomous/manual flight).

Participating students initially found assembling professional Pixhawk drones difficult, but they divided roles within their teams and, with the instructors' assistance, completed the assembly and coding. While strictly complying with health and safety protocols, they also conducted actual flight tests at the JBNU main stadium.

Professor Il-jae Lee, Director of the Center for Innovation in Engineering Education, said, "Drone technology is the core of next-generation mobility, and global research and investment are underway to establish UAM (Urban Air Mobility). To respond to developments in new technologies and industries that are difficult to accommodate within university curricula, we have developed and are operating programs in the drone field ranging from introductory to advanced levels. Going forward, we will lead the cultivation of next-generation mobility personnel by linking these programs with university major curricula."
