Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Dentistry (Dean Seobong Jik) recently held an international exchange session with Hokkaido University in Japan as part of efforts to strengthen its international network.
JBNU College of Dentistry had planned to carry out the exchange through reciprocal campus visits, but considering the COVID-19 pandemic, it was held online again this year.
JBNU College of Dentistry participated with Professors Ahn Seung-geun and Bae Tae-seong and seven students, including Gil Woo-hyun, Kim Young-rok, and Kim Ji-won. They exchanged views on differences in language and culture and on university life, enhancing understanding of Korean and Japanese cultures.
Student Kim Ji-won, who participated in this online exchange, said, "Although it was online, I am glad to have had the opportunity to share and communicate our cultures, and I feel that we have grown closer. I hope we will have the opportunity to meet in person and interact in the near future."
Meanwhile, JBNU College of Dentistry signed an academic exchange agreement with Hokkaido University in Japan in 1990, and has continued academic and friendly exchanges at the levels of faculty, graduate students, and alumni through reciprocal visits every five years. In addition, as part of its regular exchange program, students visit each other's universities annually to experience each country’s culture and campus life and to engage in meaningful exchanges.
